In just 10 weeks, the team delivered an alpha release of Truman, a next-generation physical security platform launched by Secure Passage to close the physical identity gap for modern enterprises. The alpha established a cohesive product foundation, validated core workflows, and enabled the organization to move quickly from funding to real-world product testing.

Context

Context

Truman is one of six products within the Secure Passage ecosystem, designed to unify and automate physical security operations across complex enterprise environments. With funding secured, the organization needed to demonstrate product viability quickly while laying the groundwork for future scalability.

As the sole design lead, I owned end-to-end experience strategy and execution, including:
  • Product and experience strategy
  • UX and interaction design
  • Workflow definition and prioritization
  • Visual design
  • Cross-functional design leadership
I partnered closely with product and engineering to define scope, make tradeoffs, and ensure alignment under a highly compressed timeline.

The challenge

The challenge

The primary challenge was balancing speed, quality, and future scalability. We needed to ship quickly without making design decisions that would limit the platform’s long-term evolution.

Key strategic decisions

Key strategic decisions

  • Designing for speed with intent

  • Designing for speed with intent

We deliberately leveraged shadcn as a component foundation to accelerate delivery, deferring a full design system build until post-alpha.
  • Focused workflow definition:

  • Focused workflow definition:

I worked with product to identify a narrow set of high-impact workflows that demonstrated Truman’s value within the alpha scope.
  • Tight collaboration with engineering

  • Tight collaboration with engineering

Design decisions were made in close partnership with engineering to ensure feasibility and avoid rework.

Outcome

Outcome

The alpha release laid the groundwork for Truman Identities, a platform officially launched by Secure Passage to help enterprises close the physical identity gap by unifying physical, digital, and machine identity signals into a single source of truth. Truman delivers continuous, real-time visibility across access control, sensors, IAM, and operational systems to improve security insights, reduce operational risk, and accelerate investigations across hybrid, distributed environments.
By delivering a usable, extensible alpha in just 10 weeks, the team validated key workflows and positioned the product for continued development, contributing to the foundation of a platform that now addresses complex enterprise identity challenges at scale.
